Five ways to take part

What's on

Every session belongs to one of five activities, each with its own colour, so you can find your way around the programme and the venue.

01

MDA showcase

Ministries, departments and agencies show what they have built and answer questions at their stands.

An interactive exhibition where ministries, departments and agencies, local councils, development partners and civil society present ongoing and completed projects, explain policies and talk directly with citizens. It makes government work easier to see and easier to question.

02

Presidential unveiling

His Excellency the President unveils new national initiatives and policies to the public.

A headline moment of the festival: new government initiatives and policies are unveiled by His Excellency the President in front of citizens, so the people they are meant for hear about them first and can ask what they mean for their communities.

03

Civic town halls

Ministers and officials answer your questions face to face, on the issues that matter most.

Structured, moderated town halls on national priorities, service delivery, youth development, governance and accountability. Citizens put questions directly to ministers and public officials, and concerns and action points are recorded so they can be followed up after the festival.

04

Arts and culture exhibitions

Film, theatre, spoken word and heritage exhibitions.

Creative expression as a tool for civic education: film screenings, theatre, spoken word, storytelling, art and heritage exhibitions that turn complex governance issues into human stories.

05

Live creative performances

Creative nights and the Unity Concert, with a diaspora headliner and local acts.

Creative nights through the festival and the Unity Concert on the final evening, featuring a Sierra Leonean artist from the diaspora alongside local acts, a symbolic close to three days of dialogue and action.
